Muscle Cars
Muscle cars were never referred to “muscle cars” back in their day. They were simply called “cars” or “supercars.” Most young people of the day love muscle cars because they are extremely fast, high performance with a V8 engine which makes them ideal for illegal drag racing on the street.
Just about ever car manufacturer made a muscle car, there are more than 75 different types of Muscle Cars that were made in the United States during the muscle car era between 1964 and 1975. They came in mid sized, compact and what was called “pony car” versions.
Some of the most popular Muscle Cars that are coveted today include
• Pontiac GTO
• Ford Torino
• Plymouth Duster
• Ford Fairlane
• Ford Mustang
• Chevy Nova
• AMC Hornet
• Dodge Dart
• Dodge Charger
• Mercury Cyclone
This is just a brief list. Muscle cars are prized by collectors and these cars from the late 1960s and 1970s are often displayed in collector car shows across the country.
