Vintage Cars

The term "vintage car" are widely refered to cars built between the 1919 until towards the end of 1930. Although the starting period of the vintage car era cannot be clearly defined, but generally speaking most classic car clubs would consider the end of World War I as a clear defining point. However the ending period is subjected to much debate where the Classic Car Club of America and most American association define it as 1925 whereas the British prefer the definition of 1930.

There is much development in the automotive world during the Vintage era, as cars started off as a rare item during the start of the vintage era and become much more common towards the end at 1930. Production of cars become more advanced and efficient, many industrialized countries began to develop nationwide road networks, and as the road system expand to encompass many major cities, enabling cars to travel on paved road in relative comfort, the design of off road suspension to enable the car to travel on unpaved road are soon neglected and no longer an emphasis in the car design. And as cars became more common, the society gradually accept cars as a part of their life, with businesses slowly catering to car drivers, one of the examples is the development of drive-in restaurant in the US at that time. And towards 1930, with the introduction of the octane rating of fuel system, drivers can compare between different types of fuel offered.

And as cars slowly becoming a household item, more emphasis is placed on the comfort, convenience and the practicality of the car to ensure a better driving experience. In car radio is installed, car heating system is introduced along with antifreeze enabling the car to be used all year round. Hydraulic braking systems are incorporated with four-wheel braking using a common foot pedal. At the same time, there is also the introduction of power steering.
